They are a DOCTOR whether they have an DO or an MD degree.

Now, they do not prescribe medications on a regular basis as their job does not encompass much of that, but, they legally can.

The people saying no must be thinking of radiology technicians.

Radiologists for the most part are doctors. Radiologic Technologists, like my daughter, are not. So, yes, some are licensed to write them.
