Is this an allergy or the antioxidants in the food working?

Having ur face go flush is a symptom of an allergy, but u need to do some homework to make sure.

You can go to ur general doctor & ask for a blood test (RAST) or an allergist who can give u a skin test. We've had much better results with the skin tests. It is pretty easy, but not fast or pleasant. Generally, a board with 8 combs have a different allergen on them. It does not hurt when they're pressed on, but if u have allergies, the 20 minute wait is a long-itchy wait. Here r some pictures from our last visit:

l had a tough time believing we can be allergic to things like apples, lettuce, & watermelon. l thought my allergist was off his rocker when he first suggested it was possible. It was hard to believe, even when l saw the welts on my kids. No Lettuce? Are u nutty?

Foods r related to each other, just like other families. My daughter is allergic to almonds, but always hated peaches & cherries. Now that l know those foods r related, l understand better. Look at the foods u get flushed with & see what they're related to. Keep an eye on those foods, also.

An allergy test can give u a start, but u should keep a journal. If u have a problem (skin, headache, stomachache, itchy tongue), write down everything you've eaten in the last 20 minutes. After a couple of weeks, u should see a pattern of an offending food.

Benadryl now has small packets u can keep in ur purse. You can also carry around Claritin Redi-Tabs. They're fast & they should eliminate ur symptoms.
