OK, so we all know that the smell of bleach is not the greatest scent in the world. l hate having to use it. l get really light-headed if i'm around it for too long. But what I've noticed before, is that if l am around it for a long time, l get a stomache ache. l once mopped the floor and the solution had bleach in it. The scent just sat there with not very much ventalation and l actually ended up throwing up later that night. Does that mean I am allergic to bleach? l was cleaning my bathtub yesterday with a bleach powder. l did get a little woozy and a little stomache ache. l had a fan going though. l could not sleep last night and l felt like l was about to be sick. My stepdad is doing something with plaster on ours walls and l took one wiff and l was almost sick then.

l took some chew tablets to calm my stomach down but they're not helping very much. Is it actually possible to have an allergic reaction to the smell of bleach?

DON'T USE BLEACH. with all of the safer cleaners in the stores available for your purchase, it would be silly to continue using something so unhealthy.

try using 3 parts water one part vinegar its like an all purpose cleaner and helps avoid bleach

l know VERY little about smells but l remember a Magic School Bus episode where smells were little molecules floating around & so it seems to be u could be reacting to that. l mean if onions can irritate ur eyes enough to make them water, one would expect that something like bleach would be able to invoke a negative reaction for some people.

l think l have a slight allergy to bleach in that if l put my hands in bleach water (made so that it is safe & whatnot), l get little irregular red spots all over my palm. They r not raised or anything, but they itch a bit. My coworkers never have this problem despite using the same bleach-water for cleaning things. It doens't make me feel physically sick, though.
Anyway, maybe some of us r just extra-sensitive to it.

Bleach is highly toxic and too many fumes can actually cause death. You need to have a very well ventilated area when using bleach for cleaning or any other reason. You could have a sensitivity to it. l think a visit to the doctor would be a good idea.

Vinegar has the same disinfecting action with less of the violent fumes of Bleach.

For the fumes of the plaster and paint, get some of those dust masks they sell at the paint store Put some vicks or something on it that you can not smell the plaster or paint.

It is possible to have an allergic reaction to it, but it is also possible that you have a form of multiple chemical sensitivity. This also can cause illness from perfumes, cleaners, markers, all sorts of things.
