l just got those half clear plastic(?) mold/half wire retainers and when l put them in, the back of my throat aches and l have random coughing urges like there is a tickle in the back of my throat.
Do you know what those retainers are made of and are other people allergic to them?
When l take them out, l gradually feel better.

Actually, it is your gag reflex being activated. Your orthodontist needs to trim back the retainer for you.

They are made out of acrylic .. and the wont ''cut it back'' you get used to it after about a week or two.. then that stops. It sucks but worth it to have nice teeth l suppose. Just keep it in and get used to it. Just in case you can get it checked out. but just sounds like normal retainer junk.

Are you taking about Invisalign? Very few people are allergic to plastic. You're just not used to wearing them yet. Make sure they're very clean when you put them in. Drink water if your throat feels tickly.
