Hey there folks,

just a quickie- l was wondering if anyone out there knew why the following happens to me if l oversleep.... If l oversleep l often wake up the next day feeling tired, spaced out and sometimes even numb to the world (not physically more emotionally). l also am left with a blocked stuffy nasal passage, sharp pains in my head, irritability and a feeling of being in a dream like state. l find it hard to communicate and express myself, the feeling of 'not really being there' spring to mind. l was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis a few years back so wonder if that is all it could be? I am not sure though as my mother says she also suffers from the same mixed bag of feelings- maybe it’s something in the family?. All l can tell you is it is a horrible way to spend the day and is not something l enjoy going through, so if anyone knows what l may be suffering from or ways to help cure or lessen this most annoying of aliments- please speak up now!

l would just like to add that one of the allergens l had to be careful of was dust/bed mite. Perhaps it is breathing in one or both of the above for prolonged periods of time that leaves me feeling the way l do....

Might be something or nothing but.

Do you or your family use air fresheners - plug ins or other types with oils in them.

These are renowned for giving headaches, thick feeling in the head and blocked up nose sensation. They never tell you that in the adverts though.

It sounds like sometimes you're waking up in your REM cycle, which can lead to headaches, irritability and incoherence.

You can study the REM cycles and see how many hours is best for you to get sleep. l know that if l sleep for 6 hours l feel better than if l sleep for 8.

If this is impacting you from day to day you should see your Doc and possibly have a sleep study done.

The stuffynasal passages r probably the allergies, & blocked sinuses can cause head aches. The dream like state might be a brain wave pattern thing though. You have higher levels of brain activity when u r awake & these settle down when u go to sleep to very low levels of brain activity. Maybe ur brain is finding it hard to get going after being on low activity for so long? l strongly recommend not oversleeping. l used to wonder why l felt like crap all the time but l sorted out my sleeping pattern & now l feel great.
