A friend of mine was telling me that her cousin has anaphylactic allergy to peanuts....But then she told me that he eats peanut butter... l told her it was not possible to be deathly allergic to peanuts, but your able to eat peanut butter...But she swears that it is true...Something about the raw peanuts, versus processed ones?

Is this a load of bull? l find it so hard to believe.

I am deathly allergic to Eggs and Milk, and if l even have a trace l could choke to death...How is this possible that he can eat peanut butter?

Not possible. l have a co-worker with a daughter who has a peanut allergy. She cannot touch peanuts, peanut butter or anything processed in a plant that uses peanuts. even traces of peanut oil can set her off. Your friend is either mistaken or full of it.

Invite this person over for lunch sometime, have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. If the person eats it and no reaction you know they are right, if they wo not touch it or their throat starts shutting, you will know also. Good luck.

l think they r crazy! There is no way u can be allergic to peanuts & eat peanut butter. My son is a level 2 allergy to peanuts & just being around peanut butter makes him start to feel sick. And that is a level 2 which is a pretty low level since it goes up to level 6. My mom is also allergic to peanuts & while she can touch peanut butter she certainly cannot eat it. You should ask if the person has an epipen cause l have known people that say their kids have severe allergies to foods (like milk & fruit) & yet they do not have an epipen & have never been to an allergist to be tested. l think now days people r diagnosing themselves so this might be the case with ur friend is cousin.

It could be something besides the peanut itself that he is allergic to or he does not eat enought peanut butter to actually cause a serious reaction. l am allergic to lots of foods containing latex. The foods produce a byproduct within themself that causes the reaction. Corn is one of the foods, for example, & almost everything is made with corn starch, foods, or syrup. l have to read the ingredients & if the corn part is near the end l can eat it & have no or little reaction. If l were to eat corn by itself or in the first process of the ingredients in food, l would have a severe attack. Allergies r very tricky.
